Being Made Whole Through The Gospel

DAY 8 OF 15

Our Help and Our Deliverer

Reflect:

I’ll be honest with you… I’m worn out. It’s only the middle of the week, yet I feel like 10 days have gone by. My to-do list seems like someone watered it over night with the way it keeps growing and growing. Do you ever have weeks where it feels like all hope is lost, and you just feel spiritually stuck? Who or what do you turn to in those hard times?

In this Psalm, David cried out to God for help, and God unfailingly rescued him. It’s a beautiful thing when a broken man humbles himself and genuinely cries out to his Savior. Take note, sisters. Whatever spiritual brokenness you are going through, God is right there to help you along the way. It’s easy to say we need help, but instead, we tend to seek it from anywhere other than the Lord…Psalm 119:8 says, "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man; it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to take trust in princes." Man will always fail us, but our God will always deliver us from the pit of darkness.

The verse points out that David had to wait patiently for God’s help. Sometimes in life, God’s help will seem long and drawn out, almost like it will never come…but stay patient—remember His purpose is sovereign and hopeful. In the pit of our utmost despair, God, in His perfect timing, will set us on solid ground…and we can be thankful during each phase of a difficult time because we know He will forever be our help and our deliverer.

Pray:

Thank you, God, for always rescuing me from the pits of despair. Take my spiritual brokenness and use it for Your glory. Help me to stay patient throughout difficult times and to cling tight to your Word.

Your Turn:

Are you feeling spiritually down? Take 15 minutes out of your day and spend it in God’s Word. Read through the Psalms, starting with the first one. How did God deliver His people throughout this whole book?
