Delight in Christ's Intercession
Have you ever pictured the Lord Jesus as the One called alongside to help? That is what He is called in Scripture. On the merits of His precious blood, He is qualified to be our Advocate—a paraclete, someone who pleads the cause of another.
But the same word in Greek is used for the Holy Spirit. In John 16:7–11, we are told that He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment so that when you sin, you can seek and obtain forgiveness. Further, you can be assured the Holy Spirit comes alongside and even prays for you! He always intercedes on your behalf to the Father (Rom. 8:26–27). What wonderful news! The Lord Jesus, as your Advocate, is preparing a place for you in heaven (John 14:1–3). The Holy Spirit, as your Advocate, is preparing you for heaven. You are sanctified through Him (Rom. 15:16).
In addition, you are washed and justified by the Spirit of God (1 Cor. 6:11). Having been made righteous, don't you see you can't live just any old way? How sad to forget the price it cost the Savior! It has been said, "Christ didn't buy you with His blood to rent you out!" Simply put, Paul says to you today, "Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which is the Lord's" (1 Cor. 6:19–20).
Remember, He is alongside . . . He pleads your cause . . . He's on your side . . . always!
