DAY 3 OF 28

Who is the most supportive person that you know? This person is always in your corner, ready to celebrate life's big moments with you. This person is also there during life's lows. You can trust that they will be there when you need them.

As you think of that person, I want to ask you this. When you spend time with that person, do they tend to do most of the talking, or do they listen well?

Most of the time, the most caring people in our lives are also phenomenal listeners. They likely encourage us and give solid advice, but they usually do that after they have listened. We trust people who know us well, have listened to our stories, and make space for us to be vulnerable with them. When they do speak, they share with us from a place of compassion. They understand where we are and what we’re going through, so it is obvious that they want to speak to us in ways that will help us on our journey.

When we think about sharing our faith with others, we often think about what we should say. When really, our first step in sharing the Good News with others is to be a good listener. God is inviting us to get to know others, to hear the stories of our friends, and to become trusted by those around us.

When others know you are a consistent, compassionate presence in their lives, they will be more open to hearing what you have to say.

About this Plan

Worth Sharing

For the next four weeks, we'll follow the story of Samuel to see how God called him to share his faith through his words and actions. We'll discover how God invites us to share the Good News, see why sharing the Good News should start with prayer, explore what to do when sharing the Good News sometimes requires risk, and see how sharing the Good News can happen every day.
