From the early chapters of Genesis where God declared, "It is not good for the man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18), to the teachings of Jesus and his disciples, the importance of community is evident. When we become isolated we open ourselves up to attack. Community provides a place for growth, where we can learn from one another, share our struggles, and celebrate victories together. No one is perfect and opening up and being vulnerable with community does not come without risk, but finding God-centered friendship is worth it. Community has the power to push or pull us away from our purpose. It is key to have friends in your corner who honor the call of God on your life and continue to call you higher as you grow in your faith walk to become more like Jesus. Community establishes the power of unity, gathering together for worship, teaching, and prayer. It is in community that we find encouragement, support, and accountability to live out our faith authentically. We are designed to live and thrive in relationships with one another.

• Who is God aligning as a purpose-filled friend in your life?
• How have you experienced community before?

Prayer: God, I thank You for the gift of community. I acknowledge that You have designed me to live in relationships with one another. Help me to remember in times that I would want to isolate myself, that I am not meant to live life alone. I pray for the strength, courage, and wisdom to build and maintain healthy and loving relationships with those around me. I ask that You bless my community, and highlight the people who will push me forward in my purpose. I pray for my family, friends, and neighborhood. I pray to be a source of love, hope, and inspiration to those around me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!
