The Promise of ChristmasSample
Have you ever had to guard something? Maybe it was an expensive item in your home, the net during a sporting event, or a secret for a friend. Whatever it was, you know that when you’re guarding something, it means that you’re protecting it. You’re watching out for it. You’re doing all you can to keep it safe. Well, in the same way, God promises to guard our hearts and minds with peace.
That’s a pretty big deal because, as you probably know, so many things can keep us from feeling at peace, especially at Christmas! When stress, disappointment, or trauma threaten our sense of peace this season, we can turn to God for help guarding and protecting our hearts and minds. That peace will protect us as we move through this life. It will keep our hearts and minds safe in Christ, and that’s a gift we can’t get anywhere else.
This week, try to memorize this verse. Let it be your reminder of the promise of Christmas—of God’s promise of peace—when you need it. Then, take time to share it with a friend or family member you know might need the peace of God to guard their hearts and minds during the holiday season.

About this Plan
The birth of Jesus isn’t just a great story; it’s a real event that shows us not just how God loves us but how God’s people (just like us) had to learn to trust in the face of incredibly difficult and, at times, unbelievable circumstances. We’ll be reminded of the humanity in the story and the faith it takes to believe in the promise of Christmas!
