Prayer 3: Lord, Help Me Consecrate All Money to You

The Bible prescribes that the first part of our increased assets should be given back to God. Giving the first part back to God makes everything that remains blessed.

When it comes to money, this principle is called "the tithe" or "tithing."

"Tithing" means giving the first 10% of your increase back to God, every time you receive income.

The tithe runs through the Bible from the Old Testament all the way through the times of Jesus. It is mentioned in the Law, but it didn't start with the Law or end with the Law—just like worship is contained in the Law, but didn't start with the Law or end with the Law.

The tithe is simply the Biblical pattern for giving God the first and best of everything. It is an act of worship and obedience. And giving the tithe to God consecrates the rest of your income to Him.

The Bible contains fantastic promises for those who obey God by giving the first 10% of their income to Him.

Go ahead and read today's key Scripture (Malachi 3:8-12) if you didn't already. Notice all the things God says He will do for you if you tithe! Aren't those promises awesome?

I don't know about you, but I want to worship God with everything I have—including money. I want to obey Him, and I don't want to rob Him; plus, I need Him to fulfill those promises in my life! So, I tithe.

I can personally testify that God does what He promises when you give Him His tithe.

I have tithed for many years—almost my whole life, including before I gave my life to Jesus—and I can tell you that God has ALWAYS made good on His promises to me. He even did so before I ever surrendered my life to Him!

He will do the same for you.

So pray this today if you desire to receive financial increase from the Lord:

"Father God, I surrender to yield the first 10% of my income to You, as Your Word commands that I should do. And as I tithe to You today, I'm claiming Your promises:

• Please open the windows of Heaven and pour me out so much blessing that Your provision overflows my need.
• Please rebuke the devourer for my sake.
• Protect the fruit of my ground, and of my labors.
• Bring me a guaranteed harvest and profit from all my labor and investments.
• Let all nations call me blessed, and give me favor everywhere I go.

Father God, I claim tither's rights by virtue of Your Word and Your promise. Thank You, Father, for doing what You promised and increasing me financially as I give Your tithe back to You. In Jesus' name, amen."
