Growing Our Church Family Part 3

DAY 5 OF 5

FIRM FOUNDATION

We’ve spent the last few days reading and learning about the importance of belonging to a body of believers. Our faith grows and expands when we are in the community of other believers who spur us on in our faith. In order to live the Christian life effectively we need the loving support of other people.

We read in today’s passage from 1 Corinthians that our works are going to be tested. The question is, will our works endure so that we will receive a reward? Works that stand the test have to be built on the foundation of Christ. Built on the Rock as it were.

The support of a loving Christian community that calls out our blind spots, when necessary, cries with us during the hard times, laughs with us doing the good times, and points us to Jesus in all circumstances helps us to live a life that stands the test.

Ask Yourself:

-When you look around at your local church, what good work do you see being accomplished?

-Who can you encourage as they serve and work for the Church, for the community, for the Lord?

Pause to Pray for the Church: Praise God for the Church. Praise God for specific Christians in your life who are zealous for good works. Thank God for the presence of other believers and of the Holy Spirit in your life. Ask God to give you wisdom and courage to do good works in His name and for His glory.

Take a Next Step into Christian community: What is the next right step for you? Trust the Spirit of God to lead you!

About this Plan

Growing Our Church Family Part 3

When Jesus called his disciples to follow Him, they made a commitment to discipleship in the context of community. And from that point forward, the Church has been built on this same idea. But how can broken and sinful people who disagree about so many things work together for God’s Kingdom? Join us as we explore what it means to be the church: devoted, connected, and discipled brothers and sisters.
