Ascend: An 11-Day Devotional With Red Rocks Worship

DAY 4 OF 11

NO NAME

“No Name” is an anthem of high praise, proclaiming the realities of who Jesus is both now and forevermore. Have you noticed how every single time the name of Jesus is sung corporately that something wildly shifts in the room? We know that this isn’t due to simple sentimentality or any outside influence – Scripture is clear about what the name of Jesus does! It is teeming with stunning descriptions and certainties of our Savior. Even now, get ready and watch how these words about Jesus will encourage your faith! Philippians 2:9-11, “Because of his obedience, God has exalted him and multiplied his greatness. He has now been given the greatest of all names! The authority in the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow and everyone, everywhere will one day submit to his name. In the heavenly realm, the earthly realm, and the demonic realm.”

In the bridge of this song we sing, “There's power to stand in the name, to tell what is unseen to change. It’s only a mention away, Jesus.” This song demands attention and honor be given to Jesus. If there is anything off-balance or out of order in our hearts, that name anchors us and brings us back into submission to him. This is the reason we are thrilled for this song to be sung in churches, cars, and bedrooms. As the people of God sing out the truths of Jesus in the places and spaces they occupy, they will be rooted ever deeper in Him. In Luke 10, some of the followers of Jesus came back from preaching the news of the kingdom and told Jesus, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” In every place this song is sung, the people of God will be reminded who is ultimately in charge and that he even establishes the reality we experience. There is no name like the name of Jesus!

1. Which part of your life do you forget the power found in the name of Jesus? Can you begin to invite him in as King in that place?

2. Apply yourself to memorizing Philippians 2:9-11. If we can continually remind ourselves of that reality, we cannot even imagine what might change on the earth!

About this Plan

Ascend: An 11-Day Devotional With Red Rocks Worship

Join Red Rocks Worship in an 11-day devotional diving into their album, Ascend. It's often hard to remind ourselves of the truth we know, that God is omnipresent and always available to us. Psalm 139 tells us that we cannot hide from Him. Continuing in Psalms, David states that those with clean hands and pure hearts will experience His presence. Lord, clean our hands and purify our hearts!
