DAY 3 OF 30

Life-Giving Dry Land

With the boundaries of heaven and earth established, God began to expand his creative, life-giving nature. He created dry land, a place out of the life-sustaining waters that would provide for life-sustaining sustenance.

Everything God does has a life-giving purpose. Land allows humans and animals to live outside of the waters. Vegetation allows humans and animals to receive the food required to survive. The vegetation itself bears the nature of God in that it produces seeds to reproduce itself.

God's life-sustaining nature is demonstrated from the very beginning, in the first thirteen verses of the Bible. The principle of first use or order is found right here: God created life that would beget life.

Question: How do these first accounts of God's activity strike you? Do you read over these important verses, or are you allowing the wonder of God's actions in creation to show you that God is good?

Prayer: Father, grant me your grace to read your words slowly enough to see your magnificent character—even in the smallest things.
