Facing The Unpredictability Of LifeSample
WHEN THE UNEXPECTED HAPPENS
As a young girl finishing my postgraduate degree from a premier institution, I was elated when I landed on my dream job from a reputed multinational company. Additionally I was offered to do my final semester project there. On completion of my project I was asked to manage a module, skipping the regular induction for fresher. Life could not have been any better.
A week later, on my way to work, I found myself lying on the road with blood oozing from my head and an excruciating pain as I moved my leg. I had blacked out while driving resulting in a collision accident. On admission, the hospital confirmed a femur fracture which required surgery, and the bleeding on my head was superficial and was not a worry.
From taking responsibility at work, all of a sudden I was out of action relearning to walk and use my legs. Carrying a small bowl of fruits from the kitchen to the living room was impossible as my hands were needed to hold the walker to move. It was one of those dark times in my life. I wondered if life would be the same again. As months went by, I was walking, doing active sports, and dancing. The one and a half years I had the rod in my leg was difficult, but thank God I could remove it.
During this phase in life, I understood that things can change overnight. I learnt, never to take life and all that we enjoy for granted. I could have ended up with a limp or twisted leg, my head injury could have been worse, but God protected me from all that. When I go through the events of those days, I am filled with awe and wonder of how many things went right though. Going through those days was tough and difficult.
If you are going through a difficult time right now, if your dreams seem shattered overnight, I would encourage each of you to hang in there and look to the God who created you and who knows you better than you know yourself. He is sovereign and He will lead you through it, if you would dare to trust Him. We need to trust that all our days are ordained by this God who created us and when we look back we will be thankful that it all turned out good.
