Gratitude That Glorifies God

DAY 6 OF 7

City

I grew up in a small town in middle America. I’m talking more cows than people, small town. In high school, I dreamed about leaving that small town because I believed God had something better, bigger, and shinier for me in a different city.

I truly believe I missed opportunities to share God’s love where I was planted because I was dreaming about something better. I love the reminder that Jesus wept over Jerusalem before he was crucified. The Greek word used for him crying is “klaio.” This term means intense sobbing. The type of sobbing that paralyzes you, you lose control and cry out loud. Jesus knew the judgment that would happen to the people of Jerusalem, even though they would crucify Him, and He was heartbroken.

Wherever God has you planted, it’s not by accident. There is a plan and a purpose for you in your city. I pray that you refrain your mind to recognize and become grateful for the culture, the people, and the mission in your city that God has called you to.

Pray:Spend some time today praying for what breaks your heart, what needs your city has, and how God has called you to meet those needs.

About this Plan

Gratitude That Glorifies God

It’s hard to be grateful in the comparison culture we live in. I need more influence, money, time, vacations, a bigger house, and a nicer car. Have you ever thought that? What if God has given us more than enough, and we refuse to glorify Him because we aren’t grateful for what we have? Over the next seven days, we’ll practice glorifying God through gratitude.
