Surrender Your Story

DAY 4 OF 5

Oftentimes when we are searching for God’s will for our lives, the answer is right in front of us—in trusting His heart and His Word.

Here’s how it works: God’s revealed will includes something called His preceptive will. A precept is a command or principle that shows us exactly what God wants us to do or how He wants us to live. And where do we find those precepts? You guessed it: within the pages of the Bible.

Now, sure, there are other ways that we learn God’s revealed will. He is not limited in how He teaches or reveals things to us. Many times He uses avenues like prayer and the counsel and advice of other believers. But the important thing to remember is that God’s Word is the final authority. If someone were to give you counsel or advice that contradicts Scripture, then it should not be regarded as God’s will for your life. If your feelings do not line up or remain true to God’s precepts, then it’s simply not God’s will for your life. As you commit to making the precepts found in the Bible your guide for daily decisions, you will find yourself living right at the center of God’s will for your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please help me know Your will for my life. Please guide and lead me so that I can live in a way that glorifies You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

About this Plan

Surrender Your Story

Our world pushes a seductive lie: you can achieve any goal through positive thinking, organization, and determination. But anyone who's tried to white-knuckle their way to self-fulfillment is only left with frustration, disappointment, and exhaustion. Inspired by Tara Sun's book, this plan shows that there’s a better way: surrender to the God who cares for us and has an infinitely better blueprint for a life filled with joy, peace, and meaning.
