Discover Jesus as the Standard for MasculinitySample
Day 6 Jesus Does Not Compromise
Jesus moves with solid intention and executes His plan by preparation. He was prepared for separation, His 40-day fast, and to face temptation. Jesus does not compromise; He expects this attitude from us and empowers all who follow Him.
In the book of Revelation, Jesus rebukes the church of Laodicea with strong language. These believers allowed the sinful culture of their city to influence their behavior. Jesus describes their spiritual condition as 'lukewarm' (Revelation 3: 15-16).
We all face temptations that can lead to compromise. The issue is not whether we will face temptation, but how we will respond when faced with it. Many honorable and great men have fallen in their faith when faced with temptations.
We can protect ourselves from failure by knowing how our enemy can use our weaknesses. Left exposed, our failures and weaknesses carry the potential to derail our mission. We have three enemies we must be aware of.
SATAN
The Apostle Paul writes. "…so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes" (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Jesus warns us, "The thief comes to only steal, kill and destroy…" (John 10:10).
OUR FLESH
We must be aware of our struggles with the desires of our flesh. The Apostle Paul writes, "For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please" (Galatians 5:17).
THE WORLD
The Apostle John warns us about the world in 1 John 2:16. "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." Do not cooperate with compromise.
- Identify one to two areas in your life where you are susceptible to compromise or have compromised in the past.
- Write down three things you can implement to cut off compromise in your daily activities.
