Real Hope: The Psalms of David

DAY 1 OF 5

A Gift and Responsibility

This psalm starts and ends with the same refrain, and it’s not hard to see why David looked up and marvelled at the majesty of God. As a man after God’s heart, David can see the majesty of God in creation and expresses his delight, wonder, and thankfulness.

In v4, he wonders about mankind that God would care for us. We know that God has loved us so much that He gave His Son Jesus for us (John 3:16) so that we can also be men and women after God’s heart. Jesus has opened the way, and we respond by following Jesus and seeking God’s heart in our lives.

With that comes the responsibility to be stewards of His people and His creation. This is a gift and responsibility, and we embrace it as we seek God’s heart.

About this Plan

Real Hope: The Psalms of David

King David truly was a ‘hero of the faith’ – the only person mentioned more in scripture than him was Jesus Himself. He was, however, far from perfect. In his life, he was confronted by many challenges, some of his own making, some through no fault of his own, but despite all this, he stayed faithful till the end. In this plan, we’ll explore together five of the psalms David wrote throughout his life. How did King David navigate the seasons of joy, trouble, and the immense difficulty he came across? What insights can we draw from David’s life that could impact our own?
