Refreshed by God

DAY 1 OF 5

DELIGHT IN GOD’S PERFECTIONS

"The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple." Psalm 27:4, NLT

Delighting in our perfect God means we can take comfort knowing that His will for our lives is just what we need. We can trust His perfect love to lead us through dark valleys with His light of peace and to help us scale mountains of fear in the strength of His Spirit. His perfection also protects us from our imperfect selves. When our impulses compete with what’s best for us, His sweet Spirit reminds us of a better way. A heart that delights in perfect love is a heart at peace.

Lean into the perfect love of the Lord with your imperfect life. God specializes in using your imperfections to accomplish His perfect will. It’s out of the messiness of your flawed self that your heavenly Father is able to bring beauty out of your brokenness. You may suffer from betrayal; Jesus understands, as He was betrayed by those closest to Him. Delight in His pure heart for you. He will cleanse your heart to help you rest in His perfect love, and you can let go of striving to be perfect and resist setting expectations of perfection for those who love you.

Heavenly Father, I lean into Your perfect love for me in spite of my imperfections. I celebrate the fact that You take my broken heart, heal it, and fill it with Your love. Use my imperfections to accomplish Your perfect will. Give me patience to not place expectations of perfection on others.

Dan 2

About this Plan

Refreshed by God

Refreshed By God is taken from Boyd Bailey’s book of encouraging devotionals he penned in 2020. When the world felt upside-down from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lord was giving him words to encourage, challenge, and sustain us...in times of chaos and for everyday living. It is our prayer that you are refreshed by His Spirit each day of this 5-day reading plan.
