Anchorage: The Storm of Sickness | Part 6 of 8Sample
“Help My Unbelief!”
Sometimes it is not the lack of faith that keeps us from our healing, but the excess of unbelief. Because all we need is faith as small as a mustard seed. But our doubts, our fears and our unbelief often tend to so heavily outweigh our faith and we end up being stuck in our situation.
When Jesus went to Jairus’ house after they had declared his daughter dead, He insisted that she was only sleeping. But they ridiculed Him. They displayed doubt and unbelief through this ridicule, both of which are very infectious. And so Jesus did what He had to. He put them all out of the room, except for the girl’s parents and His three disciples. And having done that, keeping out all the doubters who spewed unbelief, He brought the little girl back to life! Jairus’ family had to wait to receive their healing, not because they lacked faith, but perhaps because they had too many elements around them that were constantly feeding them with unbelief. And Jesus had to put them out before they could see their faith in action.
Sometimes that is what we have to do to receive our healing, too. Shut the unbelief out and simply trust the process. Jesus said that faith even as small as a mustard seed is enough to move mountains. So perhaps it is not lack of faith that is keeping you from your healing, but an excess of unbelief.
Reflect
Ask God to help you overcome your unbelief. And if you find yourself surrounded by people who spew unbelief, ask God for help in determining what to do about them.
