Lean on the Lord

DAY 1 OF 8

“Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!” Deuteronomy 5:29 (NIV).

So many things in life can distract us from the life God has in store for us. Every day we need to choose to focus on Him. The world will always cry for our attention and try to draw us away, but when we continue to focus on God’s still and loving voice, our hearts and souls will be more and more rooted in Him. It is essential to constantly remind your soul of the benefits of a life with God, which outweighs anything the world can provide.

The fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-24); will change you from the inside out, and the effect will radiate from you to your family and the people around you. He knows what is best for us! Recall all the decisions you have made in partnership with God and how His Holy Spirit brought change into your life because you yielded your will to Him.

When our hearts are distracted, and we become aware that we are doing things of our strength, we sometimes respond to life’s ups and downs more emotionally than necessary; maybe we feel stretched and alone. This can happen when we are not focused on the Lord; we should have made wiser choices and spent more time in prayer talking to Him.

It is so wonderful to know that we can always turn back to Him and continue to walk together in His rest and love. Let’s make a daily choice to follow the Spirit with our heart and soul instead of doing things in the flesh. Tell Him everything about what is going on in your heart and mind, listen to His voice, seek His wisdom for the choices you need to make, and you can be assured that He will always help you.

’Then it will go well with your children and their children.’

Dan 2
