Presence & Power

DAY 1 OF 15

GLORY

What is the glory of God?

The Bible speaks of God’s glory in different ways. God is glorious - He is majestic and splendid. Psalm 19:2 says, “the heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Isaiah tells us “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” When God's glory filled the temple, the priests could not enter because of the Holiness of His glory. He is glorious!

God is to be glorified - He is worthy of all our honour and praise. We read in the Old Testament that the priest's reaction to the glory of God was to worship and give thanks, not just in reverence, but because His glory expressed His goodness and love. They could not help singing, “He is good. His love endures forever.” Revelation 4:11 says, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honour and power.” We are to celebrate His glory! He is to be glorified through our everyday lives. In fact, 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

God wants to reveal His glory and share His glory with us. He revealed His glory through us as His image bearers (Genesis 1:27). He continues to reveal Himself through His Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17), His Church (Ephesians 1:22), and His mighty acts (1 Corinthians 12:10). He redeems us through Jesus, who is His glory. Hebrews 1:3 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful Word.” His glory has communicated His presence throughout scripture, from leading the Israelites with fire to His Holy Spirit in us today. Habakkuk 3:4 says, “His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, and there is the hiding of His power!” God’s desire is to reveal His glory through His presence and power!

Our glorious Father wants to reveal His presence and power to us. Thank God for His glory today. Glorify Him for who He is. Thank Him for choosing to reveal His glory to us, through us, and for us. Thank Him for this journey we are about to go on to discover more of His presence and power. Ask Him to prepare your heart and give you a new revelation of His glory over these next couple of weeks.
