“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)

The gift of the Holy Spirit is for every believer. You can’t even be a Christian without it! In every believer, the Holy Spirit does His transforming work. He turns their hearts away from sin and focuses their minds on everything good, right, and true.

But this one Holy Spirit also works in different ways in people. All Christians are like a body, in which every member has their role and function. Some Christians have received the ability to speak with wisdom. To others, the Holy Spirit gives gifts of healing or the ability to judge what is from the Spirit and what is not. This list can be extended with all kinds of spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to some believers but not to all. We should not strive to ‘possess’ all these gifts ourselves but use the gifts we receive to serve the church as a whole, “as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” If we live in unity and harmony with our fellow believers, the richness of the Holy Spirit shines at its brightest.
