Living The Christian Life Of Obedience

DAY 4 OF 7

Suganthi was a godly mother who always interceded for her four children. She dedicated her first son to be a preacher and teacher of the Word of God. As a youth, the son was wayward and did not think of following Christ. However, he was saved while he did his engineering course and became a preacher and teacher around the world.

Passage
Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger. I feared the anger and wrath of the Lord, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me. (Deut 9:18-19)

Principles
Intercession is praying on behalf of others. Moses prayed on behalf of the children of Israel; Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah; Daniel interceded for Israel.

Praying for others is a privilege God has given to Christians. Job suffered a lot with multiple losses. However, when he prayed for his friends, his fortunes were restored and received twofold blessings (Job 42:10). Praying for others is also our Christian responsibility towards others. Samuel said that he will commit sin against God if he does not intercede for the children of Israel. (1 Samuel 12:23)

Practice
We can practice to intercede for others daily. Intercede for each of your family; extended family; pastor; small group members and their families; close friends; colleagues; neighbour; city; state; nation; and for countries we know in the world.

Plan of Action
Develop a prayer diary to list the names of people whom you like to intercede for.
