Acts

DAY 19 OF 19

Acts 28

What’s happening?

Paul and his companions finally land on the island of Malta. The native islanders greet them with hospitality, and the Holy Spirit works powerfully through Paul as he heals many sick people. After a few months, Paul sails on to Rome and is released from all of the charges that had been brought against him. Similar to his other missionary journeys, Paul is empowered by God to be a witness, and he explains how the law of Moses and the prophets ultimately point to Jesus. Though not everyone in the large crowds comes to believe, Paul continues to boldly proclaim the truth about Jesus because he knows that Jesus came to save all people, whether Jew or Gentile.

What do we learn?

In Acts 1:8, Jesus calls his disciples to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth by the power of the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts comes to a close by reminding us of that call so that we too may be emboldened by the Holy Spirit to be a witness to all people.

What should we do?

God wants us to hold fast to his Word and promises in all circumstances. In the midst of hopelessness, suffering, and rejection, we can be encouraged by knowing that we are not alone. No matter where you find yourself, you can rely on the strength of the Holy Spirit dwelling within you to proclaim the good news about Jesus with boldness and confidence.

About this Plan

Acts

The book of Acts shows us how God used the disciples in the days after Jesus’ ascension to impact the world with the power of the Gospel message. We hope as you read, you’ll realize we are also called to be witnesses to the gospel of Jesus Christ and empowered with the Holy Spirit to go into this world.
