Through the Bible: Jude

DAY 1 OF 3

Stay Alert

…urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. Jude 1:3 (NIV)

As we read the opening verses, we can sense the urgency Jude wanted to instill in the believers. Jude wanted to infuse passion and urged them to aggressively defend the truth against immoral men who had infiltrated the church. These people had redefined Christian doctrines, perverted God’s grace, and used it as a license to lead ungodly lifestyles.

Today, these problems still pervade our churches. Charismatic personalities have great influence in the church, but their motives are self-serving. As believers, we must be wary of corrupt teachers who distort God’s grace and reject Jesus as the ultimate authority.

We must always stay alert and protect ourselves from such deception. As such, we must be knowledgeable in our faith. We need to focus on understanding the truth of God’s written Word and submitting to His will. The Spirit of truth that abides in us will show us what is true and will come and guide us into the full truth.

“We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit of who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12)

To contend for the faith is by staying alert and knowing what we believe and why we believe it.

Prayer

Abba Father, we ask that You give us clear vision and discernment, so we always know our place and purpose in Your Kingdom. We proclaim Jesus Christ is the ultimate authority over our lives, and no one can separate us from His love. Amen!

Scripture

Dan 2

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Jude

Despite its brevity, the letter must have been held in high regard due to Jude’s familial relationship with Jesus. The letter reminds Christ’s followers to beware of false teachers and ungodly people who have crept into church communities. Jude speaks of their due punishment and encourages believers always to stand firm in the truth and love of Jesus, who can present us blamelessly on judgment day.
