DAY 6 OF 31

Wake Up! - Proverbs 6

Throughout the book of Proverbs, we are introduced to some interesting characters, such as the sluggard. He doesn’t want to work, much less get out of bed in the morning. The sluggard is lazy and wants something for nothing. He is mentioned fourteen times in the book of Proverbs, and we see the negative effects of his lazy character each time.

We were created to enjoy hard work. God put Adam in the garden to work and care for it. This was before Eve came along and before they ate the forbidden fruit. So, in His perfect place, a man was created and called to love, pouring his life into what God called him to do. The most important thing you can do is find your purpose and find out what God has called you to do with your life. Of course, with every job, there will be things we don’t like. Ultimately, God desires that you find your purpose and place and serve there. You must work hard and allow God to build something through you. God doesn’t want you to suffer your whole life working and doing something you don’t love. It may take some time. Keep working while you search, but seek God and ask Him to show you the right place for you. Then serve and work with all your heart!

“Father, thank you for the strength and energy to work. Thank you for always providing for me. Help me to find my place and serve with diligence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
