Chosen to Be a Miracle!

DAY 9 OF 26

Come with Me

Here is Ramah’s story…

For as long as I can remember, my life has been connected to the countryside, especially vineyards. My father is the owner of one of the most famous vineyards in the whole region! Our wine was considered some of the most delicious of all.

I was with Thomas that night when we ran out of wine at the wedding feast at Cana, and I witnessed firsthand the miracle Jesus performed. I couldn't ignore what my eyes had seen! Jesus called Thomas to follow Him, and I had an invitation, too. Everything in me compelled me to take that step.

But how could we tell my father? The whole business depended on us. Following Jesus meant giving up our business, careers, and the dreams and aspirations my father had instilled within us.

I could feel my heart pounding all the way back, thinking about how I would explain this to him. My father is a strong-willed person, so I was a little afraid of how he might react. He was really angry when we told him. We argued for a long time, and we had to listen to all kinds of negative comments from him.

Having made a firm decision, we agreed with my father that he would accompany us on our journey because he wanted to talk to Jesus first. As you can imagine, it was not an easy trip; the tension in the air was palpable.

After several days, we finally arrived at the place where we would meet Jesus. My father spoke to Him, and I saw him cry for the first time in many years. After this, my father barely kissed Thomas and me goodbye and then left. I couldn't bear the feeling that I was breaking my father's heart!

Following Jesus was not an easy decision. But I knew that He had called me and that there was nothing more important than following Him. Yes, the blessing of being His disciple far outweighs any difficulties! (Matthew 19:29, NKJV)

My name is Ramah, and I have been chosen by Jesus.

Bible references: Matthew 19:23-29

Perhaps you, too, have had to experience opposition and rejection from family and friends for deciding to follow Jesus. I know it's hard, but nothing compares to walking in God's will for your life! If you're experiencing a confrontational situation like that today, I want to remind you that you're not alone: God is beside you to guide, comfort, and strengthen you.

You are Chosen to be a Miracle!
