Eyes Up: 5 Days of Trusting God’s Heart by Tracing His Hand

DAY 2 OF 5

We can see God in many ways, but sometimes we miss the places God reveals Himself most.

We turn our heads in one direction toward some fixated circumstance and stare at it, screaming up to heaven, “Reveal yourself here! Where are you?!”

God isn’t silent at that moment. He has an answer to that. His response is something to the tune of “Beloved, I have revealed myself, but on my terms. Turn your head over here, in this direction, and look. See how I’ve revealed myself in my Word and my people? See those places I was meeting you through the hands and feet of my body? See how I directed you, comforted you, and shepherded you through my Word when you needed it? See how I filled in the details of who I am in the Scriptures so you can hold on to what’s true, even in the dark? Dear one, I have shown up. I have revealed myself. But you must turn your head and look to the places I choose to reveal myself most. Here, let me give you eyes to see.”

Isn’t that the hardest thing in the world to have the eyes to see where God is revealing Himself?

Friend, if you’re wondering how God reveals himself in complete form in your life, it’s Jesus.

Yes, we want to see God move in our situations. Yes, we want to see him work things out for our good. Yes, we want to see Him intervene in our circumstances, and we should pray for all those things! Here’s the truth: Jesus is how we ultimately see God.

If you’re wondering where God is and desperate to know if he’s shown up, the answer is Jesus. Yes, God is right here with you in the chaos. In Jesus. Yes, God has touched down and shown up. In Jesus. He is the ultimate place we can point to and say, “God showed up here for me. In a major, jaw-dropping, irreversible way.”

So let’s take these truths to the bank, shall we? Let’s tape them on our dashboards in the car or write them on our mirrors in the bathroom. Whatever it takes. Eyes Up. God has shown up for you. He has touched down in this crazy world. You can see him in Christ.

About this Plan

Eyes Up: 5 Days of Trusting God’s Heart by Tracing His Hand

“Where were you, God? I can't see your hand in my story. Your heart might be good, just not to me.” In this devotional, you will learn that God offers a clear way out of our doubt—by getting our eyes off our surroundings and raising them to places that serve as symbols of God’s faithfulness. Because God’s brought you this far, He won’t stop now.
