Everyday Life in Revelation: Part 6 the Trumpets

DAY 4 OF 6

A pause is given between the sixth and seventh trumpets. An extended vision is revealed to John. It shows God’s heart and His will for His people.

John sees an angel of incredible proportions. The angel is wrapped in a cloud, a rainbow over his head, face like the sun, with pillars of fire for legs. These images remind us of God leading His people through the wilderness. The rainbow points to God’s mercy and faithfulness to Noah.

In this passage, we learn an important aspect of God. Seven thunders sound, but God forbids them to be recorded. In other words, there are more punishments, more judgments God would be justified to unleash upon the world, but He chooses to withhold those things and speed the consummation of His plan to redeem His creation.

As hard and difficult as life can be for the believer, take heart in knowing your suffering does not last as long as it potentially could. We can be patient as we face trials of many kinds. God will have an ultimate say, and He will make things right in our lives.
