Walking in purpose
Colossians 3:16–17 (ESV); "16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
One of the greatest markers of Christian maturity is making the transition from a self-centred life to living a life for others. Whatever you do and wherever you are, you can begin to discover the purpose of God in everything by exemplifying and pointing people to Jesus wherever you find yourself. As you make a commitment of steady, regular time in the word, The Word comes to find itself on the inside of you. So much more than words you read; it is Jesus alive on the inside, dwelling in you richly, ready to be called upon at any moment to bring wisdom and life to others.
Walking with purpose is for every person, in every sphere of life. Mothers, fathers, business people, retail workers, students, anyone and everyone. This purpose, your purpose, is to represent Jesus to the world. Allow people to see him when they look at the way that you walk, the way that you live, the way that you speak and love people. Let them encounter Jesus when they interact with you. In word or deed, do it all in the representation and name of Jesus, like an ambassador of heaven (because this is who you are!).
This way of life in Jesus is not boring or dull, but vibrant and joyful! Paul writes to the Colossians to allow that joy to pour out of them, singing psalms and spiritual songs with thankfulness. Let the vibrancy of a life with Christ pour out of you through worship, through thankfulness and song.
Give yourself some time to think about how you reveal Jesus to the people around you. Ask God to help you to have the word dwell on the inside of you and let the joy of the Lord emanate out of you with songs and thankfulness.
We thank God for YOU! It’s our prayer that reading this devotional has revealed to you a step that you can take to go further in your Christian walk and find yourself growing in spiritual maturity, loving your community, and bearing fruit in every good work.

About this Plan
A church in motion - never stuck or stagnant in our walk with Jesus, but always taking steps; not leaps, but continual steps of growth in God. A church that is helping people towards greater spiritual maturity by taking steps to know Jesus, find community and discover purpose. A study from the book of Colossians.
