All For His Glory

DAY 16 OF 21

For the next few days, we are going to reflect on the life of Daniel. Daniel was taken as an exile to a foreign country. It would have been easy for Daniel to conform to the culture around him, but Daniel and his three friends refused to do so.

In the passage today, Daniel and his friends refuse to eat the food that the king is offering. There are many different reasons why this might have been the case. Notice how the passage details the fact that Nebuchadnezzar carried off both articles from the Temple of the Lord (Daniel 1:2) and some of the young men in Jerusalem (Daniel 1:4). Some people think that perhaps one of the reasons Daniel and his friends refused the food offered to them was because it was being served in or on these articles from the Temple. Another reason could be that the food being served went against the laws God had given to the Israelites. Whatever the reasons were, Daniel and his friends refused to defile themselves by eating something, or eating off of something, that was supposed to be set apart.

Daniel and his friends ‘resolved not to defile themselves’ (Daniel 1:8). Today as we use S.O.A.P. let’s resolve to live all for God’s glory no matter what.

About this Plan

All For His Glory

What does it mean to live 'All For His Glory'? This plan looks at how God's glory is revealed in the Bible and how people responded to it. The first week focuses on defining God's glory, the second week on what it means to be a carrier of God's glory through the Holy Spirit, and the third week looks at what it means to live a life of worship.
