Define Your God-Driven Vision

English author and poet James Allen wrote, “Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be. Your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.”

Purpose harnesses our passion into a pursuable dream. Diligence and resolve transform that dream into an operable vision. And if it is vision that defines what we become, we must take great care in crafting and maintaining it.

Vision is important. Without vision, we live aimlessly and can wind up self-destructing. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish...” (Proverbs 29:18, KJV). A God-driven vision focuses us on endeavors that encompass all we are and all we aspire to contribute to the world and God's Kingdom.

God is sure to see our vision through to fruition if we remain faithful and in alignment with Him. So, though the task may seem daunting, nothing’s too hard for God (see Jeremiah 32:17). He promises to keep us on track, and He’s sure to fulfill His Word. We must keep following in faith!

Consider this:

How can you turn your dream into an actionable vision? What would it look like? Does it begin with making changes in your daily lifestyle? Can you team up with others already serving a similar vision, or will you need to start something new?

Take action:

As God told the prophet Habakkuk, “Write the vision, and make it plain...” (Habakkuk 2:2, KJV). Map out a framework for what your dream looks like in action by describing how you’ll use your gifts to serve others.

• What is the long-term impact you desire to have? Vividly define it and keep this as your vision statement.
• Read your vision statement daily! It will serve as an anchor to your faith, a source of inspiration, and a reminder of what you’re pursuing.

Pray for greater clarity and discernment. As you begin to do your part, remain sharply in tune with God’s vision for your life and continue to let Him lead.
