Advent in Israel: The Places of Israel & the Story of JesusSample
Day 22 - Mount Tabor
The people of God were living in the land as He had promised, but their disobedience led to strife not only among themselves but also with their neighbors. During this time God sent judges to rule over Israel to settle their internal disputes and sometimes to help lead them in battle.
One such example is the story of Deborah. It was on Mount Tabor that God used Deborah and a man named Barak to lead his people in a victory over their Canaanites enemies. This is also the site where the transfiguration of Jesus is believed to have taken place.
The judges and prophets of old were indeed men and women called by God, representatives of the One who judges with equity and mercy.
What do these Scriptures teach us about God’s provision and promises?
Matthew points to Jesus’ divinity; how do we see that in the rest of scripture and even in his birth?

About this Plan
As we enter the Christmas season, we are all eager to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the point in history where God descended into humanity to bring life to a broken world. Each day leading up to Christmas, we will provide an overview of the biblical significance of a location in Israel, along with a devotional prompt that will connect that location with the life of Jesus in Scripture.
