The Wise Woman Knows: 20 Minutes a Day to a Christ-Centered HomeSample
What Does It Mean to Know?
Did you know it just takes 20 minutes a day to create a Christ-centered home? It's true! Our God is the God of multiplication and He will take your five loaves and two fish (the short time you have to spend with Him each day) and feed the 5,000! He will help you accomplish more in your day than you ever thought possible. Try it and see!
Step One (Five Minutes): Start your time with the Lord by praying for your husband, children, and yourself. For example, "Lord, bless my husband and my children. Surround us with Your presence. Help me to be a patient and kind mom today in the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, speak to me as I read today's devotional. Help me to hear what You are saying to me and to do what You are telling me to do. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
Step Two (Ten Minutes): Read the Scriptures and devotional. Write anything that stands out to you in your journal.
The wise woman knows. In Proverbs 31:26 it says, “She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” We have all likely heard about this Proverbs 31 woman. Wow—does she seem like the real deal or what?! She takes care of her household, all who know her respect her and her husband because she is noble, busy, and takes care of business. It does make one wonder how she came to be this way and what she must have girded herself with to become so wise. Reading the verses about her can be both overwhelming and inspiring depending on what season we are in as moms!
We believe that God thought this woman should be in the Bible for a purpose. She knew some things and He wanted us to learn and glean from her. And we’re here for it! Making a few assumptions about her, here are some things we think she absolutely must have known:
• She Knew the Word of God – whether read or passed down, she must have loved God and the words He spoke. To live a life like hers, she must have heeded them in her heart.
• She Knew the Power of Prayer – Proverbs 31:20 says that she “feared the Lord.” To fear Him is to know Him. We suspect her prayer life was a reflection of that relationship with her God!
• She Knew the Security of the Love of God – In Proverbs 31:25 it says “She is clothed in strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” A woman who is secure in God’s unconditional love toward her is the only one that can laugh this way!
The Bible says so much more about her in Proverbs 31:10-31. We believe she knew God and loved His ways. We can live a life like hers when we spend time getting to know God.
Step Three (Five Minutes): Take five minutes to plan your day. Write down six things you would like to accomplish today. Ask God to help you! Have a great day!
