Just Pray

DAY 4 OF 5

THE PRAYING VILLAGE

Unfortunately, as many of us walk through life and experience unanticipated disruptions, we innately lean on our own logic instead of disciplining ourselves to speak to our Father. The truth is that when we lean on our own understanding instead of God, we are exhibiting a level of arrogance. This is exactly where the enemy wants us. The enemy loves to make us feel that we are fighting alone, and if we are not careful, our lack of commitment to seeking God’s advice will lead to a breach.

One way to sustain this connection with God, our Shepherd, we must keep the right people around us—people who will do more than give their opinion, but instead will point to God.

I first learned the power of the village in college where friends and I would gather and pray about everything. Get around a camp of people who consistently push you to speak to God instead of man. Do you have a praying village; a village that holds you accountable to prayer?

Don’t wait for someone to call you to be a part of a village. Instead, pray about building a village so that you can cover one another in prayer.

Let’s Go Bible!

In Exodus 24, Moses had 70 elders worshipping halfway up the mountain while he and Aaron went to the top.

In Matthew 26, God took Peter, James, and John to pray in the Garden.

In Acts 12, When Peter was in jail, he had a village of people praying for him.

Reflections:

Who can you trust to pray for you?

How often does the Holy Spirit lead you to pray for someone else?

About this Plan

Just Pray

We often encounter life’s challenges while ignoring one of the most powerful tools that we've been given—prayer. Prayer is the bedrock of any thriving Christian’s life. It is easily one of the most transformative habits that we can adopt. Without it, we settle for what the world offers, not securing the best of God's promises. Join Pastor John F. Hannah for a 5-day devotional highlighting the importance prayer.
