Aren’t you glad that we serve a God that created us and did not just wind up the universe and let it go? He created us and cares about every aspect of our lives. The author of this Psalm is King David, and he says that he waited patiently for the Lord. Patience is something I do not possess. 

If someone were to ask me which character trait of mine needs the most work, my answer would have to be patience. I have a really hard time waiting patiently in line at the grocery store or waiting in traffic while people slow down to look at an accident.  Those things drive me crazy!  Waiting patiently on the Lord is another area in which I sometimes struggle. 

David says that when he waited on the Lord, the Lord inclined to him, and heard his cry. The word “inclined” means that God is leaning forward to hear what we have to say. I love that! God wants to know our hearts and our cares. He wants to know the problems that we are dealing with in our lives. 

You might be wondering to yourself, “Doesn’t God know everything? Why do I need to tell Him?”

God does know everything, but He wants to hear from us. He wants to have that close connection with us that a father or mother has with their child. 

Friend, whether we are facing a trial with our health, finances, relationships, or even something as aggravating as a car not starting – God wants to hear from us every day.  Take the time to talk to your Heavenly Father right now.  Share with Him how you feel.  He promises to hear your cry.
