DAY 7 OF 20

"Stop messing with your brother!" When a parent says this, there are plenty of things that could have happened to result in this kind of expression. 1. You gave your brother a controller that wasn't connected to the TV (again). 2. You fixed him a sandwich and took a big bite out of it (again) or, 3. [insert your own go-to shenanigans here]. Big older sibling energy! As much as we need to be told to stop messing with the little ones in the house, maybe it's just a "different" way of expressing love and affection?

Well, a follow of Jesus named Peter gave a pretty good outline for what a healthy way of caring for others looks like. He lists many things, but one that he stresses is "compassion." What is compassion? It's that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you see a little sea turtle scooting to the ocean after nesting on the shore. It's that moment when you realize no one remembered Mom's birthday and she was really looking forward to it this year. See, the thing about compassion is, it usually compels us to do something about it.

What compels you to act in love?

About this Plan

Familia

“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
