Life Of Integrity

DAY 27 OF 30

"Moses' Righteousness"

Have you ever tried praying to God, but didn’t hear a response? Have you ever called out to Him for help in a certain circumstance, or for an answer to a choice you’ve been faced to make, but didn’t receive a clear answer? Let’s take a look at Moses’ story and communication with God.

The Lord decided it was time to fulfill His promise in delivering the Israelites from oppression under Pharaoh. He specifically called upon Moses to “bring [His] people the Israelites out of Egypt” – and what a great task that was! Through this journey, when God called upon Moses to perform a sign (such as making the waters of Egypt turn to blood, or commanding a plague of frogs to pollute the land), Moses obeyed. The Lord would speak to Moses and his brother commanding, “Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals,” and they obeyed. After each miracle was performed, Moses too, would speak to God, bringing forth his own requests. “Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs… and the Lord did what Moses asked.” This illustrates the reality of the open and communicative relationship we can have with our God.

When Moses finally set his weaknesses and worries aside to follow and trust in the Lord’s plans for his life, Moses stepped into a position of righteousness. He was initially fearful of taking on such a great role; yet, he finally shed his fears and inadequacies and took on the robe of a righteous, obedient servant. Thus, Moses’ life and prayers were so aligned with God’s will, that his cries were literally God’s own word. When God heard His obedient, righteous son call out to Him with requests that aligned with His plans, He answered them without delay.

We have a just and loving Father. God will answer the prayer of the righteous. If we accept the calling He has designed for us, no matter how big or small; if we dedicate our lives to leading His people to His glorious kingdom, the words we say and the prayers we cry out will undoubtedly align with His own will.

Have you ever cried out to God, asking for help, for a sign, or for an answer? Did you ever come up empty-handed? It might not have been because you weren’t listening hard enough, but it may have been because you were asking God to grant your requests, rather than fulfill His holy and righteous will.
