Infinitum 30 Day Challenge - Week TwoSample
Surrender
The first posture to living a boundless life is surrender, an ultimate posture of a disciple. Surrender is the power posture of the Kingdom of God. It is a person who is surrendered to the Lordship of Christ. To surrender means to ‘cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority.’ The recognition is that in our natural state we are opposed to God, living in adversarial hostility to our Creator. It is time to surrender. There may be a moment in your life that you can recall when you surrendered your life to God or you may be someone who has known God your whole life, either way, the surrendering doesn’t end there. Surrender isn’t something we do in a vacuum, it is something that gets done daily. It isn’t a one-time thing. We need to continually surrender and live in submission to His authority. That’s what discipleship is. It’s learning, it’s following, it's learning to be like Jesus, it’s surrendering.
We need to learn how to hang on to Jesus while letting go of what holds us back. A helpful tool in doing this is understanding that all God has given you is His, we are to steward (take care of) what God has given us. It is about denying ourselves, taking up our cross (dying to oneself - absolute surrender) and following Jesus.
We get that this life is more than just us - surrender all to God, the good and the bad. What do you need to surrender before God today? Tell God that you surrender just that thing to Him today.
Take time today to go over this power posture prayer. As you do this hold your hands up.
Surrender Hands Up—“I choose to hold my hands up as a symbol of surrender. My life is not about me. I surrender to your Lordship. I surrender my preferences, prejudices and position to you. I surrender my fears, finances, friends and family to you.”
