Today’s reading focuses on how modeling relationships is essential for Christian fathers:
One’s role as a father is intimately connected to one’s role as a husband. Children need to see their dad love their mom well. Paul told husbands, “Love your wives, just as Christ loved the church” (Eph 5:25). Peter also exhorted husbands, telling us to live with our wives “in an understanding way” and to show them “honor as co heirs of the grace of life” (1Pt 3:7). Peter goes on to warn us that if we don’t live this way with our wives, it will affect our prayer lives—individually and together.
