Staying HopefulSample

I will never forget the day my daughter Catherine came home from children’s church with the song “My God Is So Big” on her lips. She kept singing the song over and over as if it were stuck on repeat in the CD player: “My God is so big, so strong and so mighty. There’s nothing my God cannot do.”

Eventually, the endless repetition began to get on my nerves. I was just about to tell my daughter, “Catie, Mommy needs some quiet time – alone.” Then I stopped and thought, “What if this is all Catherine ever knows and believes about God? Imagine what she could do if she truly believed that no difficulty, obstacle or hurdle could defeat God’s plan for her life.”

How I wanted that kind of faith!

“My God is so big,” I began to sing along with her. I still face giants, but I’m determined not to be stopped by them. God has set before each of us an exciting and world-changing mission. He wants to work in us so that He can work through us. We can trust Him! We can have hope in Him! After all, He can move mountains.
