DAY 9 OF 10

Jesus, our Jubilee

Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you…
Leviticus 25:10 (NIV)
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:26 (NIV)

I vividly remember a dream I had in my early days of encountering Jesus. I saw myself entrapped tightly within a thorny bush. Out of the branches, I could see beautiful lush green pastures. I struggled to find the ends of the entanglement but the more I moved, the deeper the thorns dug in. Then I heard Jesus say to me, "I know the beginning and the end, let go and let Me set you free." Only when I totally rested in Him was I able to be completely free.

In Leviticus 25, the fiftieth year marked a significant year of Jubilee consecrated as holy to the Lord. The long-awaited freedom, restitution, forgiveness of debts and new beginning was coming. It was decreed by the Lord a time of total dependency on Him, trusting in Him to provide, and exercising honor to fellow Israelites. The Year of Jubilee foreshadowed Christ’s finished work on the cross. Only through His death and resurrection was our debt of sin paid for us to be free indeed.

Prayer:

Thank You Jesus for You are our Jubilee. Empower us each day to embrace this living hope and rest in the victory of Your finished work declaring and exemplifying in love the good news of the kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
