Doing Business With God: Building a Successful Kingdom Business

DAY 5 OF 6

Your Ideal Identity

Once your vision has been corrected, the eye doctor will ask you to attempt again to identify the letters on a chart, with the goal of reading successively smaller lines until you can no longer accurately identify them. Many people can get better than 20/20 vision with corrective lenses. When we have Jesus in our lives, we see things differently. We see the world and ourselves differently. Additionally, He helps us to clearly identify WHO and WHOSE we are.

In business, it is important to authentically be yourself for your brand. Your true identity in Christ can be reflected in your business. When Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers, they certainly could have doubted him. The last time they had seen him, he was a youth and much time had transpired. But a royal title had been bestowed on him by the ruler of the land, and the ruler would have known Joseph’s history based on the testimony of the cupbearer and Potiphar. So the brothers had little choice but to see Joseph as the Pharaoh saw him. Additionally, Joseph had appropriately embraced his new identity and the kingdom as well as his entire family responded to his authority. The work that Joseph did was a blessing for those who lived during his time as well as for those who would later read about the legacy that he left. Like Joseph, we can embrace our identity and the authority we have been given and leave a legacy that points back to God.
