Ebenezer

DAY 3 OF 4

EBENEZER

Imagine the joy of the Israelites at seeing the Philistines defeated! After so long, they were finally victorious. God heard the repentance of his people, took pity on their weeping and answered the cry of his prophet. That day, God declared Israel's victory over its enemy.

How wonderful it is when we receive the blessing we have been waiting for! What a joy it is to be able to see God's action happen in our lives. He hears our cry, wipes away our tears and rejoices when we smile. God is fighting for us and we can trust Him. Victory is certain, but we need to have wisdom to know how to act after it. Samuel's first act was to raise an altar to God and establish a forever memory of the Lord's actions. After all, Samuel didn't want anyone to forget what had just happened. Let no one forget this merciful and powerful God.

When it hurts a lot, let us learn to look at the stone. When we have no more hope, let us learn to look at the stone. When everything seems meaningless, let us learn to look at the stone. When change and fear come, let us learn to look at the stone. That is the secret of living with God!

We need to remind our soul and our heart of all that God has already done for us. Write about His mercy in our hearts and lay His deliveries in our minds. When we can't remember anything, remembering Jesus is enough. Let us make the cross, the stone of our faith. Especially because, no matter what happens, the cross will always be there to remind us of our Lord's immeasurable love. May we be able to say today, tomorrow and forever: Ebenezer, the Lord has helped us so far.

Do you consider yourself a person grateful to God?
What have you been doing to exercise your gratitude?
At what times in your life do you find it most difficult to remember and trust God's action? What stones do you have in your life?
