DAY 32 OF 90

Week 5

Psalms 16-17

Joy in His Presence

Psalm 16:7-8 says,“I praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night, my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

As you join in a conversation with God today, picture David doing the same thing so long ago.  Let’s look at his examples in these verses. David begins by exalting God as his refuge. Breathe deep and feel the peace of God fill your heart as you thank Him for being your safe place.

Next, David acknowledges God as his master, provider, and protector. Close your eyes and envision God seated beside you as the One that created you and with His arms around you as your Great Protector. Pause and thank him for all He has provided for you.

God perfectly knows your thoughts, examines your heart, and listens to your deepest desires. No matter what you have gone through or what you are currently going through, your soul will not be shaken because HE is at your right hand! In His presence, you learn to wholeheartedly believe that God is who He says He is and that no matter what happens today or in the future, God’s rule will never be broken. Ask God to remind you of the wonders of His great love today as you close your devotion time with great JOY.

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16:11

Family Connection: What is the best gift you have ever been given? Does that gift still give you the joy that it did when you first got it? Even our favorite gifts get old or boring! David recognized this and knew that the “path of life” that leads to fullness of joy can ONLY be found with God. In the Bible Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6) Only through belief and trust in Jesus, can we be on this path of life that leads to fullness of joy.
