For Unto Us a Child Is Born

DAY 3 OF 4

AND HE WILL BE CALLED...

One of the most famous quotes from Shakespeare's tragic play, "Romeo and Juliette," is "What's in a name? That by which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Simply put, Juliette maintained that a name doesn't define a person or thing. When Isaiah used the terms "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" to describe earth's coming King and Savior, he accurately represented Christ's nature and characteristics, defining who and what Christ is. These names of Christ have special meaning to us.

WONDERFUL COUNSELOR

Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor, our exceptional and righteous advocate, who guides and directs us correctly and wisely each time we come to Him for help. Believers are blessed with the Counselor of the Holy Spirit, sent by God himself, to live with us and in us forever. His counsel is filled with love and wisdom, and his mercy is always available. Jesus freely and willingly teaches us, has all the right answers, and will always lead us on the right path.  If you need guidance, wisdom, or direction, God should always be your first go-to! You can get advice elsewhere, but why not get it directly from God, who knows you and your needs better than anyone else.

MIGHTY GOD

Jesus is our Mighty God. He is God himself who can do the impossible and the unimaginable. Jesus has the power to save, heal, resurrect, and redeem. He is the Mighty One of Jacob who can silence waters, move mountains, and strengthen us when we are weak. If the current world situation is bringing you down and you're feeling anxious, weary, or burdened, let go and let God handle it. This means surrendering to Him and allowing His mighty and loving arms to surround and comfort you, giving you rest so that He can work in your situation.
