Better Together

DAY 2 OF 14

THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIPS

You are known by the company you keep. Another way to put it is - show me your friends and I’ll show you your future. Three statements all pointing to the same truth. Your company affects you more than you know. It can be a painful insight but also a helpful way to evaluate a relationship even before it begins.

Despite the significance and power of our relationships often time we allow negative voices to influence us too much. Paul says we should keep peace with everyone as long as it is up to us but we need to keep an eye on our relational balance. As a believer I need a surplus of relationships drawing me closer to God rather than away from him.

David and Jonathan shows an example of one of the strongest friendships in the entire Bible. They both had to deal with the dysfunctional king Saul, who on top of everything also was Jonathans father. They found great strength in each other.

What five people have the biggest influence on your life? How do they affect your relationship with Christ?
