Advent Readings and PrayersSample
The Second Sunday in Advent
The second Sunday readings remind us of how Christ came in humility—to an ordinary place, in a stable of animals, among an ordinary people. This is a time to remember how Christ fully identifies with humanity in the incarnation.
Prayer
Blessed Lord, who has caused all the Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life, which You have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

About this Plan
The word advent simply means “coming.” The Advent season refers to a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Christ at Christmas. Traditionally, the church has set aside the four Sundays before Christmas as the season of Advent. This plan contains an order of prayers and readings for the four Sundays in Advent and for Christmas Eve.
