Book of Luke

DAY 4 OF 8

DO NOT GIVE UP!

"Wherefore I say unto you, Ask, it shall be given unto you; Look, then you will get; Knock, and the door shall be opened unto you" (Luke 11: 9)

All of us want to receive what we ask for instantly, and we do not want to wait. In this era where everything goes very fast, it affects our attitude in waiting for answers to our prayers from God. We want Him to instantly answer our prayers.

When we ask, we want an mmediate answer. When we seek, we want to instantly find it. And when we knock, we need it to be promptly opened.

As a good parent, we won't give every single thing our children asked for, will we? Because we understand that not all of their requests are good for them or isn't the right time for them.

Similarly, though our Father taught us to ask, seek, and knock, it doesn't mean He will answer us immediately. Usually, in this waiting time, many of us give up and no longer have hope in God. We begin to look for answers ourselves, or get answers from a shaman or witch doctor, or other people of the world who we believe may provide solutions for us.

Romans 12:12 says to "continue in prayer". Perseverance means not to give up easily. Perseverance will produce answers. If we believe what we want is in accordance with the will of God, surely in God's time we will receive His answers. Do not give up!

Our prayers should not be granted according to our wishes.
