Made for More

DAY 1 OF 7

The question that drives so many of us is wondering what are we made for?

Many of us are overwhelmed with questions and are on a search for what it is God has for us; ultimately, what we were made to do.

What is my purpose? What is the perfect job for me? What specific talent or skill is the one I should pursue to fulfill my purpose?

You may be full of many dreams, hopes and aspirations—and you should be. I hope you are! But when we have committed ourselves to following Christ, we must set our desires aside to recognize the dreams God has for us. As Ephesians 4:20 reads, "... you must give up your old way of life…" and "Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person."

A majority of us are on a search for more. We want more purpose, more confidence, more opportunity and more promises for the future. And the truth is, there is so much more for those who seek after God (Psalm 31:19).

Scripture even reminds us that those who seek after God lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10).

I believe God has so many good things in store for us. But the majority of us, even Christ followers, seek to be made like, and fill our lives with, everything other than Jesus.

Many of us know what our vision may be for our lives, but do we daily seek to understand what God's vision is for our lives?

As Jesus makes us into a new being, he is transforming us to be more like him. But in being more like him, we must be stripped of many things that we hold tightly to. Following Christ means humbling ourselves and dying to our way of living to discover God's way. But there is greater hope and purpose in finding who we can become in God than we could ever find in ourselves. There is so much more in store for us when we allow his Spirit to transform us into who he MADE us to be.

Just as Ephesians teaches us, when we welcome the Spirit of God into our lives, we are welcoming a new way of life. We are embracing the process of being made new. This week we will be looking at the topic of MADE. What is God making you to be in this season? How is he working to change you, develop you and bring you to be more like him?

Stepping into this seven-day devotional, we will begin to uncover and understand how God has made us for so much more than we ever thought possible. Throughout this week, I hope you will discover who you are in God and the great potential that you have to let his Spirit awaken in you. The Holy Spirit wants to transform us, he wants to fill our lives with more, and most importantly, he wants to dwell more within us.

Are you eager to understand what you were made for? Are you prepared to be made new? Are you ready to be made more like Christ? If so, I hope you will enter these next seven days ready and open for God to transform your thoughts, your emotions, and your dreams to be conformed to his.
