The Virtuous Woman

DAY 1 OF 7

The Virtuous Woman

Who is a virtuous woman? Virtuous means to possess virtues. In this case, a virtuous woman is one who has many positive aspects, but they differ from the natural talents a person is born with. Virtues are certain qualities a person acquires during their lifetime.

Consider the “anti–virtues;” this will help us better understand what a virtuous woman and mother really are. There are many names we use to call our mothers; “mommy” is often used by young children, “mother” is the correct term, but it is too formal. The term we use the most is “mom.” Through this devotional plan, we are going to talk about different types of “moms:” the anti-values “moms,” and the virtuous “moms.” Which one are you?

The Manipulative Mom: This woman uses blackmail to get what she wants. These are mothers who manipulate their children. We find a few examples of these types of mothers in the Bible, like Rebecca. She was a woman of faith, nonetheless, she pushed Jacob to steal his brother Esau’s blessing and to deceive his father. These women have toxic relationships with their children, who they try to control. They want them to do what they see fit, and they achieve it by using different techniques of manipulation.

No mother should behave like this, because it is an anti–value. Manipulation is a ruse to try to control others. It is like trying to steal the Holy Spirit’s place in the lives of other people. The only one who can control a person is God; when a mother starts using manipulation, she takes God’s place. If you are a manipulative mom, you should stop trying to control your children and let them make their own decisions.

The Mannequin mom: She lets her children do whatever they want. She is also an anti-values mom; she is doing wrong by watching her children be messy, disrespectful, misbehaved, and doing nothing to correct them. She does not correct them or teach them, she never scolds them, she is just a decoration. Her children can watch TV whenever they want, they eat whenever they want, and she does nothing to fix their negative attitudes.

Reflect

Can you identify some of these anti-values in your life? If so, it is time to give them up and decide to change. Let the Holy Spirit take control of your life.

About this Plan

The Virtuous Woman

This devotional plan is completely different to any other plans you may have read about the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. Pastor Gerardo Cardenas’s approach to this subject is real and practical. The case is settled; the decision is yours. Here you are going to find a practical guide to identify what type of woman you are. Enjoy this study from a modern-day perspective.
