DAY 7 OF 7

Live and Love Again—Allowing the Truth to Set You Free

The lies we listen to are leading us somewhere, and the destination is always destruction. The truth takes us to a better place, but we won’t get there unless we learn to recognize the lies when we hear them and identify the fears underneath.

Truth possesses liberating power! When the lie is exposed, it begins to lose all control over you. Its death grip on your life starts to slip away and the truth begins to take root. You can begin to breathe again, to live again, to love again.

  • You are not unloved. God loves you.
  • You are not alone. God’s Spirit is always with you.
  • You are not without hope, even when you feel out of control.
  • Your suffering is not meaningless. God will use your pain to transform you and others.
  • You do not need wealth to be secure. Your Savior offers you complete security.
  • You’re not destined to stay stuck. You can change by the power of God’s grace.

Can you feel it? Can you feel the lies losing their grip on you? Can you sense a shift taking place in your heart as the truth breaks through the darkness and shines light into your soul? Can you feel yourself overcoming the lies that overpower you and the fear that overwhelms you? “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind,” (2 Timothy 1:7).

The tiniest truth breaks the biggest lie. Now imagine what it’s like not just to taste the truth but to feast on it! Imagine your mind, your heart, your relationships, your entire life filled with what God says instead of what the lies say: “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed,” (Deuteronomy 31:8). That is the life God wants for you, the life Jesus died to give you, and the life you have always wanted.

This is how you overcome. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full,” (John 10:10).

Now that you have begun to know the lies that hold you captive and how to start uprooting them, who can help you move forward with change? Write their name(s) down and commit to ask them within the next forty-eight hours to help you.
