Daily Bible Reading – May 2020 God’s Life-Giving Word of FaithSample
May 17
Introduction
In today’s reading, Paul addresses a particular situation in which one person had been attacking Paul and his teaching. The followers in Corinth had publicly pointed out the wrong things this person had said. Paul encourages the Corinthians to forgive this person.
Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2:14b
God uses us to make the knowledge about Christ spread everywhere like a sweet fragrance.
Today’s Reading
2 Corinthians 2:5-17
Reflect
Have you ever experienced a situation in which one person disagreed with other members of a group? If so, how did the group respond? How did you feel in that situation? Reread verses 14-16. In what ways can you be “like a sweet-smelling incense” to others?
Pray
Forgiving God, it can be so difficult to tolerate and forgive those with whom I have differences. Forgive me for the times when I have failed to forgive others. Teach me to be like a sweet fragrance, spreading the knowledge about Christ everywhere. Make me mindful of Paul’s witness today. Amen.
